Oh! I just remebered something else. So the Jerusalem Center is built on the hill called Mount Scopus, which is right next to the Mount of Olives. Because we are on the top of this hill, pretty much everyone in Jerusalem can see us. So tonight, Kristen Boyd and I went out onto the balcony. We found the lights that are shining on the building and we stood in front of them and made funny shadows and made hand puppets. Then we realized that everyone in Jerusalem just saw our puppet show and our funny shadows. Hehehe it was a crazy thought, but it was way fun to do. Her and I are pretty much famous now, except not. Oh, and we also realized that the security guys watching the cameras of the center were probably like, "What are these girls doing?" hehehe it was fun :)

First Few Days in Jerusalem

I am here!!! Finally after many hours of sitting on a plane I made it. The travel over was pretty good, just somewhat cramped and definitely not enough leg space, but the airplane food was surprisingly pretty good (I even ate the steamed vegetables mom). After a four hour flight we switched planes at the New York airport, but sadly we didn't get to see the Statue of Liberty, even from the air. The flight from New York to Tel Aviv was supposed to be 12 hours long, but was only 9 hours...whew what a relief. I actually slept really well (for a too small seat on a plane), especially for not taking sleep aids. Once we got off in Tel Aviv we were trying to figure out what day it was, and no one really knew. It was pretty crazy. Well, the Jerusalem Center is amazing. The architecture is so beautiful and elegant. I wish everyone could see it. We went in to the city today and man, was it amazing. I absolutely love the Old City. It is just as I imagined it, except even more crazy. It was pretty much amazing. The whole city is huge, which is definitely different because the trip from the west coast (Tel Aviv) to the furtherest point of Israel is basically like traveling from Rexburg to Idaho Falls. Weird fact: there are palm trees near Tel Aviv, but a little further from Tel Aviv are forests of pine trees. We flew in on Isreal's independence day and everyone was camping in the forests...not a sight I was expecting to see! Well, that is all for today, but keeping looking for more updates!

Pre-Jerusalem

Hola everyone! I am going on a grand adventure this summer. If you didn't already notice from the title of my blog, I am going to Jerusalem this summer to study abroad for four months. Whoot whoot! I leave on April 28 and I return on August 14. Since I will be half way around the world this summer, my blog will be my connection with everyone. This way you guys can see what I am seeing.
